Book Review: Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum

Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum

Today’s book recommendation is Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum. When I first did this video I didn’t know what the book was so enjoy my reaction!

We found this quaint, awesome book shop in Winter Garden called Writers Block Bookstore (love the name!) and they had this table of different wrapped books that the workers chose and wrote a synopsis of on a card. Isn’t that such a cool idea?
I loved it and had to buy one. So this tale is about a socialite scandal and murder! This Real Housewives meets beach read novel is stylish subversive and darkly comedic. Everyone has something to hide!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to post this but I like to be honest about the books I read. It sounded like a good summer read to me, and it is perfect for summer, but I had trouble getting through this book. The plot sounded great and the characters were interesting! The thing is there are multiple “sections” that cover only one day, and each section has several chapters from a different character’s point of view. And there are around 20 different characters’ points of views that you get! A couple you only hear from once! Then the “murder” is eluded to in the prologue, but it doesn’t happen until the end of the book. It was like it was described, a lot of real housewives drama from a different person’s point of view that took forever to lead to the climax. The ending was good though, but getting there was just challenging.

Maybe that’s your thing? But when it comes to a mystery I like to get into the murder right away. Maybe that’s just me. Have you read this book? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time Happy reading and frequent your local bookstores!
