Book Review: Pumpkin Spice Scare by Molly Maple

Today’s book recommendation is Pumpkin Spice Scare: A Small Town Cupcake Cozy Mystery (Cupcake Crime Series) by Molly Maple. Charlotte McKay is a cupcake baker who has restarted her life in Sweetwater Falls living with her sassy great aunt who has some just as saucy friends who all make up the Live Forever Club (as they call themselves). Currently, Charlotte is working at the local Diner to help pay her bills and her future cupcake business that she and her friend Marianne are working to launch full time.

Unfortunately, the day that Charlotte quits, she finds one of her fellow waitresses dead in her car. This sets Charlotte, Marianne, and the Live Forever Club to go on a hunt to find out who the killer is, who starts attacking Charlotte’s other coworkers. Can they find out who the killer is before Charlotte is next in line?
I enjoyed this cozy mystery book. It was a quick, light-hearted read that reminded me of a Hallmark Movies and Mystery movie. It was cute and the characters were sweet (like the name of their town) and I enjoyed their interactions and care for each other. The elderly ladies of the Live Forever Club were hilarious and made me laugh out loud a few times. I did figure out who the killer was early on, but there was enough question to make me second guess if I was right. Even with that, it had all the cozy fall vibes that a small town mystery is known for and a perfect read to enjoy during these fall months.
